I rarely go to Megamall on a Friday. Would rather go on a Monday when the mall is less crowded and store attendants have recovered from weekend madness.
Yesterday was a must because I had to get my vitamins and supplements. I normally go to Healthy Options. That done, I picked up some stuff at the supermarket for my salad and soup.
I learned that if you ask the supermarket attendants and start your question with something like "wala bang maliit nito or small pack?" They will answer, "wala." They parrot you.
Here's what worked: "kuya, tingnan mo ito, may bulok, puedeng tanggalin?" I was referring to latundan bananas, a pack of fairly large ones, six pieces. I had one removed, re-weighed, and re-tagged.
What I got shocked about is romaine lettuce at 433 pesos a kilo! Ransacking the chiller didn't give me much choice. Maybe I can get it less expensive at my not-so-favorite supermarket nearby when I replenish.
With the squash that the pumpkin that I bought , I prepared a less sinful version. Got the idea from Delifrance where I had a quick lunch of soup and solo (half size) club chicken sandwich. Theirs had totally no cream, it was thick enough and delicately spiced. Mine as shown in the picture, without the usual all purpose cream, I added only 2 tablespoons of evaporated milk.
Just want to point out the best Pumpkin Soup I ever had was in Manila Peninsula. It was a dinner event to launch a MIMs book. But homemade, it was my eldest son, who introduced it to us.
