Hungry but not angry

These days when value for money counts the most in one’s thought process, you would NOT want to buy rice that’s neither hot nor cold. Warm would do, right? I scolded again an attendant in Mini-Stop on the ground floor where I live. Sometimes when I’m lazy to cook rice, I buy a mound of rice nicely packed in their branded wrapper. That’s about half cup. I bought two, one to eat for supper and another perhaps for lunch the next day. I asked the lady attendant if that was how they serve rice, she asked if I wanted to heat it. Oh, I let it go because I was hungry and wanted to watch the latest telenovela Corona on Trial. Where in the world can you see such clowns?

Early one morning, while there was nobody, nobody but me, I confronted the male attendant about that incident, recalling also that in CG2 the rice was stale. Jam, my friend had go back and forth to exchange her order for a fresh mound. CG2 according to this attendant is a franchise; the one on the ground floor is directly owned by Bobby Go, hmmm. Sounds familiar, but I learned AFTER I gave my name and room number. Now I’m paranoid.

Deceitful Informatics

If you’re looking for where to take short computer courses and you think Informatics might be it, please consider and reconsider-- don't make the mistake. I had the rest-of-my-lifetime horrible experience with the Megamall branch.

Before New Year I went to inquire about Product Management (this was in fact the second inquiry I made) and expressed interest in enrolling in the course. They made me sign some sort of a guest book (might as well say it was a GUESS book, hello) and informed me that they will first wait for 4 others who might be interested before they could open the course. I asked when will that be…no definite answer.

Since I was eagerly waiting to apply to a Project Manager position at a business process outsourcing center, I told the Informatics people it was very important and urgent that I get a certification, otherwise I can merely buy a book and self study. They seemed to understand, or so I thought.

I texted them to follow up, to which they said that I should apply to the course and register – this I did on January 8, paid the registration fee, application and tuition in full amounting to Php8,200. They didn’t issue me a receipt because they couldn’t give a definite schedule for the classes. I agreed and thought that was reasonable, accepting also an acknowledgement receipt instead of an OR.

Someone texted me to ask what was my preferred schedule, to which I replied after work of course. That someone said my schedule was Sunday, from 9am to 3pm and again, I was excited and couldn’t wait to go to class. That particular Sunday, I had arranged for my son and I to do coffee to discuss some family matters. Still and all the urgency persisted, i.e. that I get a certification – remember this is already opportunity loss for me!

Then shortly after I said okay with the schedule, I was told via SMS they will update me as they needed to complete the set (of 3 to 5 other enrollees). Well okay, I guess a little more time won’t hurt. As Friday was fast approaching I demanded them to give me a schedule because I had other things to do than waiting for inefficiencies. No one texted back… wouldn’t you have lost your cool too?

Marching down to Megamall that Saturday, January I4 I went through a hierarchy of people and demanded my refund in cash… first they said it will take 2 weeks. WHAT? After I have given them money in cash, for a course that I didn’t take nor now refused to take because of their deceitful marketing and inefficiencies, they will give me this shit? And guess what, they have entered my payment into the system and official receipt was made – which I never got hold of. Sneaky people.

I went to the customer service booth, which luckily was in front of Informatics and asked that they send a security guard. When he came, they hurriedly whisked me into a small office behind glass doors with the guard. It came to a point that what I could draw out from these people Raymond Tavadena and Sharon Parreno was that I come back Monday, get my check and encash it at a bank within the mall. And this I had to do while my office would be waiting for me to come back to work after lunch. That didn’t feel quite right so in a huff I went to Megamall’s Customer Relations.

I was never this furious before, saying that they sock, really sock. Moreover, I swore never to get toxic again, not even to say bad words – one can imagine anger management to the hilt. In the end, they gave me back my money and now left me a lasting impression never to recommend Informatics to anyone, not even to my enemies.
